New Occupational Accident Policy for Caviar Couriers

For Accidents Occurring On or After December 1, 2019:


When does the new Occupational Accidental policy take effect?
December 1st, 2019

Will there be any benefit changes under the new Occupational Accident Policy?
Yes. The benefit changes are as follows:

  • Accidental Death Benefit:
    • ​Previous Policy: up to $100,000
    • New Policy: up to $50,000
  • Survivor's Benefit:
    • ​Previous Policy: up to $100,00
    • New Policy: up to $150,000
  • Minimum Weekly Benefit Amount for Temporary Total Disability Benefit:
    • ​Previous policy: $50
    • New Policy: $100
  • Minimum Weekly Benefit Amount for Continuous Total Disability Benefit
    • ​Previous Policy: $50
    • New Policy: $100

Yes. The new Occupational Accident Policy number Is 216-002-382.

Will the phone number to report an Occupational Accident claim change?
Yes. The new phone number to report a claim is 1-844-747-6224.

To file a claim, call OneBeacon's dedicated Independent Contractor Claim line at 1-844-747-6224. Please be prepared to provide policy #216-002-382, along with your phone number, email address, and license $.

Has the Insurer changed?
No. Atlantic Speciality Insurance Company will remain as the insurer.

What is covered under Occupational Accident Policy?
Occupational Accident Insurance ensures that couriers are protected against covered accidents in the rare chance they incur injuries in the course of making deliveries, without limiting their flexibility or choice to work across multiple platforms. If you suffered an injury while making a delivery with Caviar, you may be eligible for coverage. A few of the key coverages in Caviar's Occupational Accident Insurance include:
  • Up to $1M per accident for medical expenses
  • $100k accidental death benefit & $100k survivor's benefit for eligible dependents
  • Accidental Disability benefit up to $500 per week

Am I covered under the Occupational Accident policy?
If you suffered an Injury while In the course of making a delivery after July 1, 2018, you are covered under the policy unless you are a courier in the state of Washington.

Do I have to sign up or enroll to be covered?
No enrollment is required.

Do I need to pay for this coverage?
No. This coverage Is being offered at no cost to couriers.

My bike or car was damaged in an accident, does Occupational Accident insurance cover that?
No. Occupational Accident Insurance does not cover damage to your bike or car.

Will this policy cover me if I'm not able to make deliveries?
Couriers may be eligible for a disability benefit of up to $500 per week.

I was Injured delivering with another competing service; will this policy cover that?
No. This policy only covers couriers while making a delivery with Caviar.

I suffered an Injury while making a delivery with Caviar after July 1, 2018 and I'm not In the state of Washington; how do I file a claim?
To file a claim, call OneBeacon's dedicated independent contractor claim line at 1-877-441-6274. Please be prepared to provide Caviar's policy #216-002-246, along with your phone number, email address, and license #.

I just called and filed the claim, what happens next?
A OneBeacon claims adjuster will assign you a claim number and will guide you through the claims process. The claim adjuster may request additional information, and it is important that you provide that information as soon as possible to avoid any delays.
